Worth Your Time

December 3, 2009

Hey folks. I’ve been suffering from internet-burn-out over the last week or so, as well as a cold and fever (yes, sick again…) but in the meantime, I’ve been collecting a list of great articles and reports. As usual, I wish I had time to write about all of them, but instead, I’ll just provide the links:

  • The Center  for Public Integrity published a new study about the “culture of secrecy” surrounding reported rapes, silencing of survivors, punishment, and accountability on US college campuses.
  • In Houston, the Salvation Army is checking people’s immigration status before giving them free Christmas gifts. Cause we def wouldn’t want the ILLEGALS to get any of our charity!!!
  • Political Research Associates has a new report on U.S. Conservatives, African Churches and Homophobia, which is especially relevant given the proposed legislation in Uganda that could punish HIV-positive repeat homosexual offenders with death.
  • Time Magazine reports on a study that says that whether or not you agree with biracial politicians, including Barack Obama, may affect how light or dark skinned you think he is.

That’s all for now, but I have some other posts in the works, so check back soon for updates on life in Phnom Penh and some great  book recommendations.
