Worth Your Time

November 8, 2009

I wish I had time to write about all of these, but I’m just getting back on my feet after being sick for so long, and it’s looking to be a busy week:

  • The Bilerico Project has a disturbing article up about Pastor Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Coalition, who is planning a rally against the new hate crimes legislation in DC. He is hoping that he and other protesters will find LGBTQ people and attack them, get arrested, and then fight the new law in court. This is horrifying. Nevertheless, the numerous comments on Bilerico calling for violence against Cass are wrong and indefensible.
  • Carrie at Gender Across Borders explains her ethical qualms about ritual male circumcision, as a Jewish feminist.
  • Conservative Christians are protesting the portrayal of Jesus as a trans woman in Jesus, Queen of Heaven, a play at the Glasgay! arts festival in Glasgow. Renee at Womanist Musings has more here.
  • Under Secretary of State Clinton’s leadership, the United Nations criminalized rape as a weapon of war.

That’s it for now. Read anything good lately? Post it in the comments!
