pause for appreciation

October 27, 2009

I’m sitting at my desk trying to translate sections of Our Bodies, Ourselves into Khmer, listening to Tracy Chapman, slurping instant noodles and sipping on my mid-afternoon coffee. I’m not getting so much done though, because my mind is spinning with ideas and hopes about what our programs could do for the women we’ll be working with. We still don’t have staff, my language skills seemed to have stalled, and as far as I can tell, there’s no Khmer word for lesbian, but… life is rich and in this moment I’m hopeful.
